Skinny Shot Aftercare

Dr. Gentry recommends everyone to take a preferred laxative immediately after receiving the first dose and then taking another laxative the next day. This helps to alleviate any nausea that may be caused by Tirzepatide. Feeling nauseous is completely normal for the first few doses, although many don't feel any side effects!. If you are feeling a bit nauseous, please drink plenty of water and take an over the counter medication such as Pepto Bismol.

How does Tirzepatide® make you lose weight?

Tirzepatide works in several ways: it increases insulin production, but only when your blood sugar is rising - which makes the risk of low blood sugar minimal. Tirzepatide helps with weight loss by decreasing food intake and slows down how fast food travels through your digestive tract (called gastric emptying). Tirzepatide helps you feel fuller for a longer period of time and reduces how much food you are consuming.

How quickly does Tirzepatide® work?

Tirzepatide will start to lower your blood sugar levels right away but it can take 8-12 weeks to reach your target A1C goal. However, it may take several weeks or months until you see the drug's full impact on your blood sugar levels. This is because your doctor will slowly increase your dose of the Skinny Shot until they find the amount that's right for you.

What is the mechanism of action for Tirzepatide®?

Tirzepatide is a first-in-class medicine that activates both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, which leads to improved blood sugar control. Tirzepatide is an injectable medicine that is administered once a week subcutaneously, or under the skin which is a pain free method of administration. "

What are the potential side effects?

The most common potential side effects of Tirzepatide include nausea, diarrhea, decreased appetite, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, and stomach (abdominal) pain. These are not all the possible side effects of Tirzepatide. Talk to your healthcare provider about any side effects that bother you or do not go away.

What Can You Not Take With Tirzepatide?

Patients receiving Tirzepatide in combination with an insulin secretagogue (e.g., sulfonylurea) or insulin may have an increased risk of hypoglycemia, including severe hypoglycemia. (See adverse reactions, drug interactions). It is not known if Tirzepatide can be used in people who have had inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). Tirzepatide is not for the use in people with type 1 diabetes. It is not known if Mounjaro® is safe and effective for the use in children under 18 years of age.
