What to do, step by step.
- 1
Make sure everyone is safe.
Call 911 if anyone is hurt or needs emergency care.
- 2
Know when to go to the ER.
Go to an emergency room first for a severe or worsening headache, confusion, numbness or weakness, trouble with balance or vision, or neck pain after a hard impact.
- 3
Document the scene.
Take photos of the vehicles, the area and any visible injuries.
- 4
Exchange information.
Get names, contact details, insurance and license plate numbers.
- 5
Report the accident.
Notify your auto insurance company as soon as you can.
- 6
Get evaluated.
Some symptoms don’t appear right away, so a prompt evaluation is a good idea.
- 7
Keep your records.
Save reports, receipts and notes about how you’re feeling.
- 8
Know your options.
You can begin care with us directly, with or without an attorney.
