Understanding Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care focuses on the joints of the spine and body and how well they move. Your chiropractor uses controlled, hands-on adjustments and related techniques to address restricted movement, always matched to your comfort.

Your visit isn’t only the adjustment. Depending on what your evaluation shows, your chiropractor may add supporting therapies that help relax tight muscles beforehand or calm a sore area afterward. They’re part of your chiropractic visit, not something you have to book separately.

At ChiroCare Therapy, chiropractic is rarely the whole plan. It often works alongside massage, decompression or recovery therapies, so your care addresses more than one piece of the picture. We’ve been caring for patients in Rancho Santa Margarita since 1997.

Therapies that may be part of your visit

  • Cold laser therapyLow-level laser light applied to a specific area. It’s painless and produces no heat, so most people feel nothing at all. It’s very quick, about 5 to 10 minutes.Often used for Temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness
  • Therapeutic ultrasoundSound waves delivered through a small handheld head and a little gel, creating gentle warmth deep in the soft tissue. About 7 minutes of treatment; plan for about 15 minutes.Often used for Muscle tightness, spasm and soreness, often to help muscles relax before an adjustment
  • Electrical muscle stimulationSmall pads deliver a mild current you feel as tingling or light, rhythmic muscle contractions. About 20 minutes of treatment; plan for about 30 minutes.Often used for Muscle spasm and tension, and short-term relief of pain
  • MicrocurrentA very low-level current, far gentler than muscle stimulation. Many people barely feel it. About 20 minutes of treatment; plan for about 30 minutes.Often used for Sore or sensitive areas where a lighter touch is a better fit

Your chiropractor chooses which, if any, fit your visit based on your evaluation, and explains each one first. Electrical muscle stimulation is different from Neuromuscular Stimulation (TeslaMax), a separate, more intensive session. About Neuromuscular Stimulation

Inside your spine

A one-minute tour of your spine: how it’s built, what a disc looks like inside, and how an irritated nerve near your spine can be felt in your arm or leg.

Your spine

Twenty-four small bones called vertebrae stack into three gentle curves, from your neck to your low back. Discs cushion each one, and your spinal cord runs safely through the center. Drag to turn it around.

An educational illustration, not a diagnosis. Where symptoms are felt varies from person to person, and pain can have many causes. Your evaluation is how we find out what’s going on.

  1. 01

    A conversation first

We talk through your pain, your history, your routine and what you want to get back to.

  2. 02

    A careful evaluation

Your chiropractor assesses movement, posture and areas of restriction before any treatment.

  3. 03

    Care matched to you

Each adjustment is explained and adapted to your comfort, often with supporting therapies like ultrasound or muscle stimulation. Gentler techniques are always an option.

  4. 04

    A plan that adjusts

We track how you respond and refine your plan as you progress.

How it fits your care

Chiropractic care is often combined with other therapies so muscles, joints and recovery are supported together.
